Love them or hate them, Tokyo Hibernain FC are a very good team. They proved this once again this weekend with a 5-1 victory over their closest rivals over the last few seasons Swiss Kickers. At half time it was one all. Captain Kirk had scored for Hibs. His half time speech inspired a superb 2nd half display. Masa Egawa started it with a left footed screamer, an own goal and Kodai Stalph header from a corner made it 4, and then Egawa scored his second and hibs' 5th on a breakaway in additional time.
After a tough last few seasons battling survival in Division 1, SUNS FC are now finally finding some form following relegation at the end of last season.
The English Premier League witnessed one of it's craziest finishes over the weekend with Swansea and Crystal Palace scoring late goal after late goal. No quite as hectic or maybe even as defining was Albion Old Boys late comeback to stun FC Sagarmatha. AOB seemed destined to be on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat with 5 minutes left.
Not often does a team concede 3 goals and can still win the FJ TOTW but the Saitama Jets have achieved this. Guts SC were sitting on top of the table after 5 straight victories. The Jets have had a mixed season with 2 victories and 2 loses. Buoyed by their good performance v Barbarians in the Cup the Jets went into the game confident. One player who is certainly confident is Chris Piper who scored a brace. 5 in 5 for him this season in the league.
At 1pm on Sunday a minute silence was held prior to the FJ Cup match between BFC Tokyo and Dutch FC. The silence was held in honour of BFC Tokyo's founder Gordon Liversidge who passed away last week. In BFC Tokyo's 36 year history rarely have they won a game so emphatically. On an emotional afternoon they managed to score 14 and only concede one goal. Dutch did only play the match with 10 men but you still have to beat the team in front of you.
After a tough few opening months to the season, Shane FC pulled off the biggest shock of TML Match day 10 by beating Real Celts. Many had tipped Real Celts for promotion this season. Shane FC had 1 point after 5 matches and were determined to claim their first victory of the season.
The 9th match day weekend of the season saw 5 out of the 6 matches with a heavy scoreline to the winning team. The biggest scoreline saw Jetro FC defeat Musketeers 7-1. Jetro gave a debut to their first new uniform for a very long time, they looked good and certainly played good.
