ROBERT WALTERS TOTW (February 12th)
Announcements - February 14th 2023
An exciting weekend took place with many surprises.
There was not one, but three upsets that occured in the cup/plate games.
Yeboiz (D2) beat FC International (D1) 3-1, Albion Old Boys (D3) beat Shane FC (D2) also with a score of 3-1.
But the team of the week goes to Jetro FC (D3) who knocked out Suns (D1), a team two divisions higher!
Although both teams brought a healthy 12 players to the match, Jetro had no recognized keeper so they took turns in nets. This proved to be fatal as Suns scored the opening goal that could have been chalked up as a keeper blunder.
However Jetro kept their composure and despite all odds, they equalized 10 minutes into the second half.
The game went to penalties where Jetro chose their best goalkeeping outfield player for the shoot-out. This proved to be a successful manager decision as the chosen goalkeeper scored his penalty take and proceeded to save Sun's third penalty to win the shoot-out. A wild celebration ensued surrounding the goalkeeper as Jetro solidify their place into the quarter finals of the plate! They will be facing Albion Old Boys down at Hachioji on March 12th. Congratulations to Jetro FC for winning the Robert Walters Team of the Week!
