Saturday saw Footy Japan host our final 7s tournament of the season. In recent season the Charity 7s has been very popular and this year was no different. We had a mix of new and old teams competing. For the first time in a few years Footy Japan entered a team which consisted of the British Football Academy coaches. 

In the months leading up to the tournament the team was rocked with the news that Coach Simon was to attend a wedding on the same day. How would the team cope without their number 1? Like all good Captains and managers Coach Dave went out and employed a Coach who conveniently plays in goal. 

The footy Japan team consisted of 9 players. Wes (Panthers FC) in goal. Back 2 of Dave (Hibs) and Andre (Pumas), Midfield maestro James (King George) was flanked by 2 of the following 3, Ryosuke (Pumas), Nikolia (Panthers & Shane FC) and Toma (Free agent). Up top Sid (King George) and Chama (Free Agent) took it in terms to be the big man leading the line. 

All the players had arrived at YC&AC some 5 hours before the 7s tournament kicked off to work at the morning iNTERLiga tournament. We expected to start slowly but we actually flew out the blocks scoring 4 past Collezione FC. Next up we scored another 3 vs London Utd and we completed the group stage by knocking 5 past Base04.

The Quarter Final stage saw us meet NNLife where we were up against one of our BFA students Dad's. We certainly showed him that his Son's footballing education is in good hands as we swept past them 4-1. Special mention to our 2 forwards Lloyd and Chama who were scoring freely. 

The Semi Final saw us play against a young Japanese team who oddly decided to play long ball against us. Coach Dave and Andre dealt with everything pumped at them and our midfielders were quick to win the 2nd balls which meant we were good for a few counter attack goals. 3 goals later and we were through to the final to play Collezione FC again. 

Ryosuke came off the bench to be the game changer and scored 2. Dave then gave away a penalty which they scored from. Moments later Nikolia scored to make it 3-1. It stayed that way and Footy Japan claimed the Cup trophy.
