TML 22 to begin August 31/Sept 1

Announcements - July 24th 2024

Despite having a late start to the season (started end of September), the season wrapped up the earliest it has in the past decade (June 15th). It was a compact season, with the cooperation of teams getting their games played (instead of forfeiting/rescheduling). The new season will begin on the weekend of August 31/September 1st!

We've presented the Season 21 awards to the winners on July 6th listed below:

Referee of the year goes to the referee that has been with us from the start of this league and will forever be with us until the end because we are renaming the award to his name. We had his son recieve the award in his place. The referee award, hereinafter renamed to the Kazu award, is presented to Urushiyama Masakazu.

The Sportsmanship award goes to the team demonstrating the right spirit of the game. That is not to say that they are suck ups, or that they don't get physical. But rather even if they do foul, it's not personal, after the game win or lose, theres no hard feelings. They've had a rough string of losses this season, ending up getting demoted but they've played their games with good competitive spirit and never cross the line with bad behavior. FC International wins the sportsmanship award.

The ESR FJ Plate finals were between D3 Shane and D1 YeBoiz. It looked like YeBoiz was in control of the ball for the majority of the game but Shane held on defensively and even had a few chances of their own. In the end the game was a 0-0 draw with Shane FC winning the penalty shoot out!
The ESR FJ Cup was between ECFC and Zion. On paper this could have gone either way but Zion scored a very early goal that shattered ECFC's spirits. Although the second half looked more even, the damage was done. Zion FC are the ESR FJ Cup winners after winning the game 4 to 1.

Division 3 Golden Boot goes to a terrific player who not only can score goals single handily but also does a great job linking up the play in the midfield for Shane FC. An instrumental figure for the team this season. Scoring 15 goals, Kodai Takano is the Golden boot winner for D3.

Division 3 Runners up were the boys hailing from Yokota Airbase. The team with the most goals out of any team this season with 57, Fussa FC are the runners up for D3.

Division 3 Champs go to a team that finished the season with only a single loss. It's their third year in the TML. Their core players has remained largely unchanged but it seems like they’ve finally adjusted to the league and have found their stride. Guapo FC are the Division 3 champions!

Division 2 Golden Boot had an unprecedented 3 players tied with 11 goals. First, Callum Brown from YCAC. He single handily kept YCAC afloat in Div 2 as they were on the brink of relegation Second Kai Howe from Nomades. A new sign up for them this season thats produced wonders. Lastly, Yusuke Hirata from Sagarmatha. Definitely a key figure in Sagarmathas great performance this season. Yusuke Hirata also recieved the golden boot last season when Sagarmatha won division 3. Perhaps the first time anyones won it back to back!

Division 2 Runners up goes to Sagarmatha. Just like Yusuke Hirata, this is the second season in a row Sagarmatha got promoted. One of the few teams that uses no cross division players, they will be challenging themselves in their first ever Division 1 apperance next season.

Division 2 Champs have a similair story as the Division 3 champs. Both teams have a lot of players that went to the same high school. And just like Guapo, this team had a relatively unchanged squad since they joined the league 5 years ago. But things have finally clicked together, they play perhaps one of the most organized football with proper tactics. They beat several division 1 teams in the cup run to reach the semi final of the cup. I have no doubt they will be a solid team in Division 1, congratulations to Brunello FC for being the D2 Champs!

Division 1 Golden boot goes to a power house striker with the strength of 2 adults and a little baby. He's been playing for YeBoiz for 2 seasons now, the BFG of the team, Lawrence Yamaguchi wins the golden boot with 17 goals.

Division 1 Runners up finished with a hefty 31 points. A single head to head win would have landed them the championship which shows how tight the competition was in Division 1. Last season they also were a win away from winning the title, they always seem to just let the title slip from their hands in the final games of the season. BEFC are the second place finishers in Division 1.

Division 1 Champs goes to an established powerhouse of the league that's maintained a good ratio of foreigners throughout the years. They've finished top 3 of Division 1 for over 6 years. They are no stranger to recieving the championship title... congratulations to Pumas FC for winning the league!
