Samurai 7's Recap

Announcements -

Despite snowing a few days ago, the Samurai 7’s first day was hosted in toasty weather. Couldn't have been any better!

We saw a handful of returning teams like Shenzen International, French Krauts, Swiss Kickers, FM FC, but also a fresh collection of new faces. Teams from Australia, Thai, Singapore, Bali, Hong Kong and many more were represented, with a total of over 20 teams signed up.

Tanah Merah was in dominating form in the group stages, having not lost a single game or even conceded a single goal. They continued their win streak in knock out cup and made it right to the finals. However last years O35 winners, Shenzen International, awaited them. They were also dominating their group games, having won all their games but with a score line tamer than Tanah Merahs.
The finals was a close battle, both teams produced many chances but Shenzen International scored the only goal in the finals. The O40’s cup winners goes to the defending champion, Shenzen International FC.

The majority of the plate was filled in with local teams. Union Pacifico had a great run, despite losing all their group games, they suddenly turned on their burners and progressed all the way to the finals to face British Football Club Tokyo. It was a physical game where neither team gave each other room to breathe. The game was tied 2-2 and went into extra time where BFC scored two rapid goals to seal themselves as Plate winners.

The O50’s was dominated by two teams, FJ Masters and Swiss Kickers. Two staple teams in the Samurai 7’s, they won all of their group games in Day 1 instantly sealing themselves as finalists for the cup before even playing each other.
Making their group game against each other in Day 2 moot, they opted to have a mixed friendly to prepare themselves for the finals.
The finals did end up being one sided. The FJ Masters were visibly tired and the Swiss Kickers played a cut above FJ. The score line reflected that and the winners were Swiss Kickers. Once again, this was a team that were defending champs from last year (O45’s).

Thank you to all the teams for joining us again this year, the weather was perfect, we hope you all had a great time!
