ROBERT WALTERS TOTW (February 26th)

Announcements - February 27th 2023

7 games from the ESR FJ Cup were played this weekend, all of them being great games.

Despite missing their top goal scorer, Trust United knocked Hibernian FC out of the cup with a 4-0 win.
Although they lost 3-1, a suprisingly good battle from BEFC Lions playing against their first team, BEFC.
Dutch vs Eastern Capital was a parade of goals from both sides. The game was determined by penalties after a 4-4 draw where once again, both teams continued to score until the 5th penalty take. Eastern Capital shot the ball over the net while Dutch slotted theirs in to secure their win.
FC Nomades had an incredible game against FC Sagarmtha to advance them in the next round of the plate.

But topping all of those games was BFC Tokyo's match. A deserved Robert Walters Team of the Week goes to BFC for their result over Panthers FC in the ESR FJ Cup!

BFC did not have an easy path for the ESR FJ Cup. They drew division 1 Sala in their first game but overcame the odds with a 2-1 win. They now had to face against Panthers FC who are currently riding the top of the table in Division 1.

The game started with a quick goal from Panthers to take the early lead only to be equalized 5 minutes later by Kei Tamura. The 1-1 score line remained unchanged for the first half. It seemed Panthers made the best out of the half time talk. 2 goals scored by their strikers put them in a very comfortable place. As a division 1 team playing against a division 3 team with a 2 goal cushion, the game looked to be done.
However, with ith only 7 minutes left to play BFC did the unimaginable. BFC's captain, Rowan Krztsiak scores a vital goal in the 73rd minute, followed by another goal from Johan Caspar-Bertheau in the 75th minute. 2 goals in 2 minutes to turn the game completely around. BFC managed to turn a lost game into a game determined by a penalty shoot out.

With all the momentum going BFC's way, they scored all of their penalties while Panthers missed their 4th one.

BFC have now beat two division 1 teams and will be playing BEFC next. If they continue their streak of giant killings, this may be perhaps the greatest Cup run ever witnessed!

Congratulations to BFC for winning the Robert Walters Team of the Week!
