PLAYER PROFILE

TML Interview - March 9th 2017

Our second player profile features this seasons leading expat scorer in the whole of the TML. Alo Sakk is one half of the forward line that is leading the British Embassy to the Division 2 title. Let's get to know the biggest Estonian Footballing export since Mart Poom.

Name:  Alo Säkk

Nationality: Estonian

Team: British Embassy FC

Position: Midfield, mostly nr 10 position

Number of years in the TML? Joined in March 2016, so 1 year

What do you like about the TML? The different styles of football on display is interesting-Championship style long ball, tiki-taka style and everything in-between.

Which player would you compare your style too? I play with high tempo and energy. Although he is playing in different position I think Liverpool era Luis Suarez might be similar style minus the biting, handball play and injury faking.

What is the highest level of football you have played at? Estonian Second division- it was the 3rd highest level of 7 tier system at the time. So not very high level.

Have you ever played for any other TML teams? No

What makes your club special? That the club is not only about playing football but organizes a lot of social events such as Christmas Parties , Friendlies and is very well organized and run.

Where was your first ever TML match and what are your memories? First match was against the Dutch FC at Hachioji Park. Back in Estonia I had only played for one team for 18 years, it felt like first day at school- everything was new (team mates, opponents, referees etc)

Favorite TML venue and why? Shibuya Sports Center- it has the best astro turf I have played in Tokyo and is close by.

Best player you have played with? The Estonian player Tarmo Kink (great name by the way). Some die-hard Middlesbrough fans might know him from the time he played in Championship in 2010-2012.

Best player you have faced? Couple of years ago my Estonian team played with the Estonian League champions in the Cup. They had a few Estonian National team players in their ranks (we lost 8-0 and had one shot on goal). I guess they were the best players I played against. Not that they are household names outside of Estonia!!

Who is your best mate in the team? We have a nice team and there is good camaraderie within our group

Funniest moment before, during or after a TML match? I have lot of funny moments to recall from my previous club but not yet in Japan.

Any other comments? Keep up the good work at TML.
